For the second consecutive year, The Brand Leader (TBL) has been recognized as one of Outside magazine’s Best Places to Work – moving up to #11 after being an honorable mention in 2021. TBL is a Greenville, South Carolina-based advertising and marketing agency, specializing in enhancing clients’ brands, and has grown from fifteen to 31 employees in the year since winning the award in 2021.

         “Having The Brand Leader continue to move up Outside magazine’s ‘Best Places to Work' rankings is particularly rewarding for me as a longtime outdoor industry veteran and one-time contributor to the magazine,” says Kyle Duford, Executive Creative Director. “It’s also a testament to our ‘people first’ mindset, which has enabled us to grow substantially over the past year. Since 2004, Outside has been identifying and recognizing great employers from throughout the United States with the Best Places to Work award. The process to be considered for the award included an evaluation of the nominee's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. In addition, every employee of each company being evaluated completes a confidential survey that measures their workplace experience. According to Outside, winners value productivity in combination with an active, eco-conscious lifestyle, for a fulfilling experience inside and outside the office.

Among TBL’s employee-first policies that helped it win inclusion in Best Places to Work are its unlimited time-off policy, generous family leave (including maternity, paternity, adoptive families, single adoptions, same-sex partnerships), “Bagel Thursdays,” office bikes for lunchtime rides, stocked refrigerator (i.e., craft beers, healthy drinks, snacks, etc.), commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, paid volunteer days, spot bonuses (from peers and leadership), summer Friday hours throughout the year, and a book club.
